SUSTAINABILITY AT ROADIS

A STRATEGY TOWARDS IMPACT

We want to be part of the transition to a more sustainable business world and leverage the business opportunities created by our work in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas.

SUSTAINABILITY IN 2022

In 2022, we finished implementing the 2020-2022 Master Sustainability Plan

In 2022, we finished implementing the 2020-2022 Master Sustainability Plan, in which we established our strategic framework and roadmap for sustainability management, focused on addressing the main challenges associated with our activity and the global trends in the sector.

The actions are classified into five strategic vectors, which in turn contain different strategic lines that are essential to achieving the integration of sustainability at every level of the organisation.

Under this premise, we completed the new 2023-2025 Master Sustainability Plan to give continuity to our strategy and which will help us achieve the goals set for 2030

SUSTAINABILITY GOVERNANCE

The Sustainability Policy applies to all ROADIS employees and directors, and to the intermediate holding companies and vehicle corporations fully owned by ROADIS.

It ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with national and international regulations and standards, while encouraging long-term value creation for the communities in which we operate.

Due to the cross-cutting nature of sustainability, we are confident that our teams will play an active role in adopting practices and procedures that contribute to the increasingly sustainable management of the company.

This Sustainability Policy is based on the following guiding principles:

Sustainable development

Search for an adecuate balance between local economic development, social action, protection, progress and respect for the communities where we operate.

Governance

Efforts in terms of enviromental and social sustainability are promoted and led by the Company's managemente and are properly incorporated into the asset management and control processes.

Respect for Human Rights

ROADIS respects and contributes to the protection of the internationally recognized fundamental human rights, making sure that it is not complicit to any type of abuse or violation of such rights.

Integration

Sustainability must be integrated into our core activites and at all organizational levels, ensuring the availability of the necessary resources and taking into account the perspective of its stakeholders.

Innovation

Innovation as one of the pillars of business development, promoting the search of sustainable solutions at a technological and operational level.
OUR CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Our commitment to sustainability is based on the concept of sustainable development, since we believe that we must carry out our activity in a way that is responsible with the communities in which we operate, and we have set a number of objectives in our Sustainability Master Plan to demonstrate our compliance with that commitment.

As a guarantee, in 2022 we endorsed the United Nations Global Compact, a global initiative to spearhead sustainability in companies based on ten universal principles related to human rights, labour legislation, the environment and the fight against corruption. By incorporating these principles into our strategy, we not only fulfil our commitment to communities, but also lay the foundations for long-term success.

Similarly, in order for our initiatives to contribute to the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda, we have not only aligned our Sustainability Master Plan with the SDGs, but we have also taken them into account both when designing the Sustainability Policy and for the materiality analysis, thus contributing primarily to 9 of the 17 goals: 3, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17.

TRANSITION TO A CARBON NEUTRAL ECONOMY

Our Environmental Policy aims to establish a general reference framework for the integration of environmental protection and conservation objectives into our strategy, while articulating the principles that rule environmental and natural capital management.

Aware of the role played by infrastructures and our responsibility and commitment to the transition to a carbon neutral economy, in 2022 we have designed a Decarbonization Plan, whose emission reduction targets will be validated by the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, which will enable us to achieve zero net carbon emissions by 2040.

ROAD SAFETY: OUR PRIORITY

Ensuring the safety of our road users is our main goal. In 2022, we engaged in numerous activities to achieve this goal, including the implementation of improvement and corrective measures on our highways, road safety campaigns and support to communities located in the vicinity through training activities.

Thanks to our continuing Road Safety Programme, we have improved the data collection and analysis systems, and we have conducted internal audits and road safety studies to assess and identify those sections with a high accident rate and to prepare action plans.

We also launched a new edition of our "Your safety, our priority" campaign, which began in 2019 and is being coordinated internationally to shine a light on the most important problems:

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Speeding

Periodic vehicle inspections (with a special focus on the condition of the tyres and lights)

Use of the mobile phone while driving.

We also partnered with national regulators in the countries where we operate to increase awareness of road safety, most notably through two initiatives in 2022:

  • The celebration of the 33rd National Road Traffic Safety Month, promoted by the Government of India (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways)
  • We support and participate in the "Safe Roads" campaign promoted by the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport of the Government of Mexico.

Thanks to these initiatives, in 2022 we were able to reduce the traffic accident rate by 12% (total number of traffic accidents per 10 8/veh-km).

CR & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

CR & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

In 2022, we continued to make progress in developing our corporate responsibility strategy.

We are deeply committed to the development of the communities and countries where we operate. We want to add value to the communities where we operate beyond investing in infrastructure or supporting public services, generating a positive social and environmental impact.

Our Community Development Guidelines lay out the areas of priority for all our corporate responsibility initiatives, which help to promote mobility and sustainable development, socio-economic well-being and the protection of natural resources, in keeping with the SDGs.

Equal education

Breaking the social gap

Community well-being

Safety is one of our priorities, which is why we take part in activities to raise awareness, this time through education. Our colleagues in the A4, in collaboration with Fundtrafic, held an educational seminar in three schools in Seseña and Valdemoro, where they set up a road safety circuit to recreate city traffic, and a functional diversity circuit to learn about the reality of pedestrians with disabilities.
