The second congress of the Association of Experts in International Mobility (AIAL), of which ROADIS is a member, was held at Espacio Bertelsmann on 27 November. The main focus was the future of international mobility.
Antonio Jesús Hernández, Human Resources Director at ROADIS, explains that “AIAL is a project that was born in June 2015 and that, in less than 3 years, has been consolidated as a reality and is a benchmark for professional experts in international mobility, with ROADIS having been an active member since its creation”.

The Conference on Road Operation and Maintenance was held in Mumbai, India on 14th June. This event was organized by a committee made up of 6 members, one from each of the funds that participated: Peak Infrastructure Management Services (Peak), Highway Concessions One (HC1), Cube Highways and Transportation Asset Advisors (Cube), MIRA India Management Services (MIRA), Roadis Transportation Holding (ROADIS) and Abertis.

The 3rd edition of the Finance Meeting 2018 event was held at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid on 17th October. An event in which numerous professionals responsible for finance and management departments in various sectors met together. The objective of this event: to debate and collect best practices in the finance area and share solutions to improve economic-financial management.
Suresh Shintala, expert in tolls & ITS and a member of the COE team, participated in this event as a ROADIS representative. In an international panel, he shared a presentation entitled “Toll Operations in Latin America and Asia: practical experience of working in different cultures”
The Infra México GRI 2018 meeting was held on 19th and 20th September, an event that brought together authorities and leading companies in the infrastructure sector in Mexico City with the aim of discussing legal frameworks, planning and other public-private partnership and investment strategies.
The IX edition of INVESTructuras 2018, the annual conference on investment and financing in the infrastructure sector, was held at the Meliá Princesa Hotel in Madrid on 24th October.
José María de Ojeda, SBU Head of North America, participated in this event as a ROADIS representative in the panel "Opportunities. Risks. Strategies", focused on discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the international PPP market: opportunities in short, medium and long-term infrastructure, project investment and financing models etc.
The “Eurolatam Business Meeting” LATIBEX 2018 Forum was held at the Palacio de la Bolsa in Madrid on 15th and 16th November. This meeting, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, has become the leading event for Latin American companies in Europe.
Esther Ayuso, Head of EMEA at ROADIS, participated in this forum as a representative of our company in the talk on "The Infrastructure Market: Opportunities and financing alternatives". This talk was part of the panel "Financing Structures in Latin America".
ROADIS successfully closes the transaction to increase its stake in three of its assets in India by acquiring the minority participation of funds managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP).
On Monday, 22 January, an event was held in which the Real Madrid Foundation (FRM) and the Esperanza y Alegría Foundation (FEyA) renewed the partnership agreement for supporting and developing socio-sports projects in India.

Rocío Cabra embarked on an adventure Traveling to India to volunteer in order to "give a little bit back of everything that this country has given her, working with ROADIS", as part of the agreement between the Institute for Indian Mother and Child, the Real Madrid Foundation and ROADIS.
In 2018, ROADIS was a leading partner of the Real Madrid Foundation in socio-sports projects in schools in India. These projects aim to promote the children’s development based on three fundamental values: respect, teamwork and a desire to excel.

The Real Madrid Foundation organized its IV Day for sponsors and partners: a fast 7-a-side football tournament for companies that support its projects internationally.
Speed Dating Football 2018 brought together around 150 players from 14 companies: Caixa Bank CLM, Gonvarri, Ecopilas, KPMG, Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), Colgate, UPS, Universidad Europa, CLH, Globalvia, Liberbank, El Corte Inglés, Medical Services and ROADIS.

En México es una tradición celebrar el día de muertos el 2 de noviembre de cada año. Una de las actividades más significativas de esta celebración son los Altares de muertos, los cuales se hacen en honor a los seres queridos que ya no se encuentran con nosotros.
En 2018, siguiendo la tradición, la autopista Saltillo-Monterrey quiso ser partícipe de esta bonita iniciativa creando altares de muertos que se localizaron en diferentes puntos de la autopista.
En la actividad participaron todos los empleados de la concesionaria, aportando alimentos, frutas, bebidas e indumentarias para las ofrendas… todo con características 100% mexicanas.

Between august 23rd and 25th, the VIABAHIA team participated in the International Congress of Mass Disasters (CIDEM) that took place in Feira de Santana.
The CIDEM is considered the biggest event around this topic, and in its third edition, it reunited experts from 14 countries: Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, The USA, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay, Perú and Portugal. In addition to representants from Australia, Denmark and Italy, who participated from the distance.
Complying with its socio-environmental program, VIABAHÍA prepared a set of actions to develop with those that will be the multipliers of knowledge and protection of the nature: the kids.
On Monday june 4th, the little ones had access to a fun session of traveling cinema. This action is part of the project “de Conto em Conto” that was developed in the Municipal school of Milton dos Santos Matos. The initiative focuses on promoting the socio-environmental education of kids through the use of audiovisual resources. The short-film presented was "El LORAX - EN BUSCA DE LA TRÚFULA PERDIDA”.
En el marco del programa socioambiental desarrollado por VIABAHÍA, el 22 de marzo, Día Mundial del Agua, la concesionaria lanzó el proyecto «De Conto Em Conto» para 140 escolares municipales de Salvador.
El objetivo principal del proyecto era acercar el cine y la diversión a las escuelas públicas ubicadas en los municipios ubicados cerca de la BR-116|BR-324. Comenzó el Día Mundial del Agua a las 9 de la mañana en la Escuela Municipal María Rosa Freire, ubicada en el barrio palestino de Salvador, cerca de la BR-324.
This equipment uses a system like the one of the winches: the cattle crate moves downwards facilitating the rise and low of the animals. The aim of these vehicles is to pick up the animals that are loose and endangered in the surroundings of the roads managed by VIABAHIA (BR-324 between Salvador and Feira de Santana, and BR-116 from Feira de Santana to the limit with Minas Gerais).
In addition to this new vehicle, VIABAHÍA has other 2 vehicles to collect animals, which will also be updated with this system.
VIABAHIA celebrates World Water Day with cinema and socioenvironmental awareness
Within the socio-environmental program developed by VIABAHÍA, on March 22nd, World Water Day, the concessionaire launched a project called “De Conto Em Conto” for 140 municipal school children from Salvador.
The main objective of the project was to bring cinema and fun to public schools located in municipalities covered by the Concessionaire. It started on World Water Day at 9am at the Maria Rosa Freire Municipal School, located in the Palestine neighborhood of Salvador, near BR-324.
This program takes care of 50 people every day, who are evaluated by nursing professionals and after attended with medical cares. If any patient presents a serious situation, the program counts with the support of an advanced team of professionals dedicated exclusively for this action.
The “Saúde no Trecho” health truck will go around the different municipalities until September 2018. The goal is to attend more than 1,500 people in 6 municipalities of Bahía.
The highway concessionary VIABAHÍA has provided the Federal Highway Police with 8 new vehicles. The equipment will be incorporated into the fleet that monitors the federal highways in the sections managed by VIABAHÍA.
The provision of these vehicles is part of our Corporate Responsibility Policy and it also forms part of the partnership agreement signed between the Concessionary and the Federal Union. Its main goal is to improve the safety of the roads managed by the concessionary (BR-324 between Salvador and Feira de Santana and BR-116 from Feira de Santana to the border with Minas Gerais).
VIABAHIA manages approximately 680 kilometers of roads that pass through 27 municipalities and are home to a significant diversity of fauna. The concessionaire, concerned about the threats to animals, has partnered in the north and northeast with ViaFAUNA, an environmental consultant specializing in wildlife and environmental services.
This work, which will continue until January 2019, aims to reduce road accidents with wild animals and thus achieve two objectives: the conservation of biodiversity and the safety of road users.
